⥠The Five Types
The foundation of Human Design is your Type â it describes how your energy works and how you best interact with the world. There are five types, each with its own strategy, aura and theme.
Manifestor (approx. 9% of the population)
Manifestors are the initiators of the world. They have a closed, repelling aura that protects them while they bring their vision into the world. Their strategy is not to ask permission, but to inform others before they act. This reduces resistance and creates space for their impact.
Generator (approx. 37% of the population)
Generators are the builders and the life force of the planet. They have a defined Sacral center that gives them constant, sustainable energy â provided they do the right work. Their strategy is to respond: wait until life offers something and then follow their sacral response (that "uh-huh" or "unh-unh" feeling).
Manifesting Generator (approx. 33% of the population)
ManGens combine the sacral power of the Generator with the initiative power of the Manifestor. They are multi-passionate and often work on multiple things at once. Their process is non-linear â they skip steps, go back, and find their own way. The key: first respond, then inform, then act.
Projector (approx. 20% of the population)
Projectors are the guides and managers of the new world. They have a focused, penetrating aura that can look deeply into the other. But their wisdom is only heard when they are invited. Without invitation, their advice feels like meddling. With invitation, they change lives.
Reflector (approx. 1% of the population)
Reflectors are the mirrors of the community. Without defined centers, they absorb the energy of their environment and reflect it back. They are extremely sensitive to their surroundings and need a complete lunar cycle (28 days) to make major decisions. They are the rarest and most unique types.
đĩ The Nine Centers
The Human Design bodygraph contains nine centers, inspired by the Hindu chakra system. Each center can be defined (colored) or undefined (white). Defined centers produce consistent energy; undefined centers absorb energy and amplify it.
| Center | Theme | Defined = | Undefined = |
|---|---|---|---|
| Head | Inspiration, pressure to think | Consistent mental inspiration | Absorbs mental pressure from others |
| Ajna | Conceptualization, how you think | Fixed way of thinking | Flexible, multiple perspectives |
| Throat | Communication, manifestation | Reliable voice and timing | Variable communication style |
| G Center | Identity, direction, love | Stable sense of self | Identity changes per environment |
| Heart/Ego | Willpower, self-worth | Consistent willpower | Variable willpower, don't force |
| Solar Plexus | Emotions, emotional life | Emotional wave, patience needed | Absorbs emotions from others |
| Sacral | Life force, sexuality, work | Sustainable energy (Generator) | No own sacral motor |
| Spleen | Intuition, health, survival | Spontaneous intuition, healthy instinct | Holds on to what isn't healthy |
| Root | Adrenaline, stress, pressure | Consistent handling of pressure | Absorbs stress pressure from others |
đ§ Authority
Your Authority is your personal decision-making process â the way you best make decisions. It is not your mind. Human Design teaches that the mind is a wonderful analyst, but a poor decision-maker.
| Authority | Center | How to Decide |
|---|---|---|
| Emotional | Solar Plexus | Wait for emotional clarity â never decide in the moment |
| Sacral | Sacral | Follow the sacral response: the "yes" or "no" feeling in your gut |
| Splenic | Spleen | Follow your spontaneous intuition â the first whisper, directly in the moment |
| Ego/Heart | Heart | Follow what your heart wants â "Do I really want this?" |
| Self-Projected | G Center | Hear yourself talk â your truth comes through your voice |
| Mental (Environmental) | Head/Ajna | Discuss with trusted others, pay attention to the environment |
| Lunar Authority | None (Reflector) | Wait a full lunar cycle (28 days) for major decisions |
đ The Profile
Your Profile consists of two numbers (e.g. 3/5) that describe your life theme and learning style. It is determined by the lines of your conscious and unconscious Sun gates. There are six lines:
| Line | Archetype | Core Theme |
|---|---|---|
| Line 1 | The Investigator | Need for a solid foundation, gathering knowledge |
| Line 2 | The Hermit | Natural talent, waiting for the calling |
| Line 3 | The Discoverer | Learning through trial-and-error, experience |
| Line 4 | The Networker | Influence through personal relationships and network |
| Line 5 | The Heretic | Gets projected upon, expected to offer solutions |
| Line 6 | The Role Model | Three life phases: trial-and-error, withdrawal, wisdom |
The twelve profile combinations are: 1/3, 1/4, 2/4, 2/5, 3/5, 3/6, 4/6, 4/1, 5/1, 5/2, 6/2, 6/3. Each combines two archetypes into a unique life path.

Your Human Design Experiment (1 week)
Look up your Type, Strategy and Authority. This week, consciously try to follow your strategy. If you are a Generator: wait for something to respond to. If you are a Projector: wait for invitations.
Do you notice a difference in how situations unfold when you follow your strategy versus when you initiate from your mind?
